2011 Kia Forte Koup & Forte 6 Speed Sedan

Naza Kia, the sole distributor of Kia cars in Malaysia, has officially launched the Kia Forte Koup for RM 115,800 and the Kia Forte 6-speed sedan, which comes with a six-speed automatic gearbox and new equipment. Prices are increased across the Forte sedan range: the 1.6 EX sells for RM 78,800, the 1.6 SX for RM 85,800 and the 2.0 SX for RM 97,800.

The Forte Koup is Kia’s first attempt at a two-door coupe which has turned out very successful—it is probably the most handsome piece of metal you can buy at its price level. The powertrain, a 156 hp, 194 Nm 2.0-litre Theta II engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle-shifters, is borrowed from the Forte sedan. For more assured handling in the Forte Koup, Kia lowered the ride height and widened the tracks of the chassis underpinning the sedan.

The Forte Koup is well-equipped with 17″ alloy wheels, leather upholstery, leather steering wheel with controls, power sunroof, automatic climate control, Bluetooth connectivity, 6-speaker audio system with 6-disc CD-changer and iPod connectivity, smart entry, push-start ignition button, cruise control, six airbags and Electronic Stability Program (ESP).

With this latest update, the Forte sedan, launched in Malaysia back in November 2009, now gets two more gear ratios, a new grille, electrically-foldable side mirrors with LED turn signal on all three variants. Steering-mounted paddle-shifters, Bluetooth connectivity and a rear-view camera are reserved for the more expensive 1.6 SX and 2.0 SX, however.
